Among these are some noteworthy ones embodied by YL itself:

YL Magazine is a Positive Change Instrument that you can learn to use and apply.

Positive News Boards make the world’s best knowledge present in Schools & Universities – visible to the entire student and staff community daily, 24/7, at no cost. Simply Download, Print, Post YL Stories as wall display in school hallways. From an educational perspective, this Positive News Board serves as Informal Sustainability Learning Environment (ISLE). It helps setting local initiatives in an inspirational global context, inspire classroom activities and provides a  pathway for conscientious youth to connect with changemaker communities, feed on humanity’s delightful mindfood and take reponsibility in their local community! No matter where in the world, YL’s 4 x UNESCO status signals school principals and teachers YL’s exceptional value for formal and informal sustainability learning – and supports every committed educator, student and parent to promote its set up in schools.

Teaching Tools. We design teaching media that provide the world’s Great Practice Innovations in a format that’s not only fit for education but super inspirational! With one-of-a-kind links, media, video, teaching tips and practical action opportunities. We have tested “Microcredit Sponsoring by school classes” and “Youth Leader Portraits” with educators, youth, children, social workers… and all are thrilled! You find them in our EDUCATION section. We encourage you to promote and use them.

National and Local Editions are powerful tools for innovation. They show what’s happening, who is doing what and where to join on a regional level of practical relevance. We empower individuals and groups to host and manage such editions. They effortlessly grow win-win benefit relations to all actors of civil society, youth, education, administration and progressive businesses

Our Priorities presents a choice of relevant online campaigns & petitions from various sources. Translated to 10 languages, spiced up with inspirational changemaker portraits and action tools, Our Priorities promises to add significantly to citizen action. Furthermore, we define such participation as a practical learning excercise on reflection, opinion-forming and democratic expression on global sustainability issues – for use in schools.

YL Replicate! is our own initiative for accelerating the simple replication of Great Practices by providing decision-makers in politics and economy with packaged information, practical steps and expert contacts for taking these sustainability solutions to scale in their regions of influence.

Testimonies by volunteer YL Captains:

Sami Hamed, 19: “I have always been interested in global and development issues, and been working with young people. When I heard of YL, I decided to unleash its potentials on the city of Hamburg. Stepping up from a quick chat to becoming creative direcvtor of YL Hamburg only took a day. Since, I have been meeting organisations and schools for media work and youth leadership workshop almost daily. I have received nothing but positive response. The experience is invaluable for my personal and professional path.”

Ritika Verma, 23: “Eric, can’t we have YL for India, too?” “That’s what it is all about, Ritika!” Six months later, Ritika has developed YL India into a full fledged online magazine, and it seems it is India’s only second green publication. “I work on the Youth Leader website at least 5 hours per day. I build contacts online and on the ground. We hold online jam sessions on Skype to coordinate with the other volunteers. I am looking forward to converting it into a print publication in the future. Being an online volunteer is an amazing experience. It’s like being a part of this huge human work force, which is everywhere!” YL India has been awarded the UNITED NATIONS ONLINE VOLUNTEERING AWARD 2010. Ritika is now pursuing masters studies in Great Britain, while the indian team continues to thrive.
